]]> How about I share a “song” I wrote for Porch Music? The prologue sets the stage for the rural setting, the early 1950s, and the music that was popular at the time. We learn quite a bit from the narrator, Janie, about her family and the way she sees the world. While writing the opening scene, I wanted to use lyrics from a song that was copyrighted, so I had to write my own. While the square dancers glide across the floor, the band sings “Broken Carted Mule.”
